You may have heard the pat-pat-patting of a pickleball court in your neighborhood or local park. You may even play regularly yourself, or complain about the noise. However you feel, pickleball is being taken to the next level across the Front Range.
Normally when multiple softball teams are sharing the field, it’s time for battle. But at the Aurora Sports Park, several AAU softball teams from near and far took the field at once for a collaborative event in the spirit of fun and inclusion.
Explosive cheers. The battle rhythm of drums. Air horns. All that and more collided in the air all day long, creating a festive and, at times, intense atmosphere around the Christopher Fields Softball Complex in Westminster. Thirty teams representing countries around the globe put on a wild showcase on the diamonds.
Fans from all the corners of Colorado came. They hailed from Fort Collins in the north to Pueblo in the south to Grand Junction in the west. They might as well rename the team the Colorado Nuggets.
Bring plenty of water, but don’t bring alcohol. Expect to make noise, but don’t bring any noisemakers, like fireworks or air horns.
