More black women using doulas following reported maternal mortality rates

MONROE, La. (KNOE) – According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, black women in America have the highest maternal mortality rate at 69.9 deaths per 100,000 live births in 2021. This is almost three times the rate for white women.
In the face of such a somber statistic, black women are using doulas more. In this week’s segment of Health Minute, sponsored by St. Francis Health, experts discuss what this means in the labor and delivery community.
