Trapped Gas? Here Are 3 Steps To Relieve It!

Passing gas is a normal process and completely healthy. Study shows that average adults pass gas about eight times a day. But what happens when it gets trapped? Sometimes the body produces too much gas, which cannot pass through the digestive system due to certain foods or illnesses. For example, milk and vegetables such as broccoli and spinach can cause excessive gas. Thus, resulting in pressure that can cause pain. And that pain can be so unbearable that it can send a person to the emergency room.

Look no further because we have three easy steps to help you relieve that problem. You can use your own body to relieve discomfort when other methods aren’t working.

3 Steps To Relieve Trapped Gas

  1. Get on Your Feet: You will be shocked to learn that taking a walk can help relieve trapped gas and bloating. Light physical activity can help move intestinal gas and reduce bloating in the abdomen. A simple 30-minute exercise three to four times a day can help.
  2. Lie On Your Side: This particular move helps relieve trapped gas in the lower intestine. Follow the instructions below and see if it brings relief.
    1. Lie on your side. You can lie on your side on a bed, sofa, or floor.
    2. Gently draw both knees towards your chest. Please take your time with this step; if it doesn’t feel comfortable, then do not force it.
    3. Relief should happen in several minutes, but if not, then try slowly moving your legs down and up a few times.
    4. Use your hands to pull your knees closer to your chest (if able).
  3. Squat: Squats are good for more than building your glutes. It also can help with trapped gas. But be aware that this position can cause a bowel movement; therefore, make sure you have access to a bathroom. Follow the instructions below to see how.
    1. Start with your feet shoulder-width apart and facing forward.
    2. Put your hands on your hips or hold on to the back of a sturdy chair. Then, slowly bend your knees until your rear end is close to the floor (butt sinks to the floor).
    3. Place your hands on the tops of your thighs (or continue to hold onto the chair). Stay in this position until you feel the gas start to move.
