TACOMA 10/28/2023 – A man driving alone was killed Saturday when he crashed into a concrete barrier at the closed Fishing Wars Memorial Bridge. He was pronounced dead at the scene, but further details were not available.
The man apparently crashed into the bridge structure or a concrete barrier that was put in place when the bridge was closed on Oct. 20 following notification from the Federal Highway Administration that a complete inspection must be conducted, the inspection results are analyzed, and the bridge load rating is updated if required. The bridge will remain closed for an indefinite period of time.
