Police in Maine and Mississippi worked together to take a man wanted for an Augusta murder into custody.

Who is the Fugitive?

Andrew Redmond, 34, of Augusta was arrested at approximately 6:30 Monday evening, September 11th in Biloxi, Mississippi.

What Were the Details of the Murder?

Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss says Redmond is accused of killing Tyler Robinson, 34, of Augusta, Maine on July 28th, 2023. Robinson was found unresponsive on the side of Old Belgrade Road in Augusta. Officials have not revealed Robinson’s cause of death or a motive for the murder, but say the two men were familiar to each other.

How Was Redmond Apprehended?

Redmond and his wife, Danielle Redmond, 33, of Augusta were traveling on Interstate 10 in Biloxi, Mississippi when local police officers tried to get them to pull over. Redmond wouldn’t stop and led police on a chase before finally giving himself up. He was taken to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center in Gulfport until the extradition process is conducted. Once that is completed, Andrew will be brought back to Maine to face a murder charge.

Danielle Redmond was charged by Biloxi Police with failing to comply.

This investigation was a collaborative effort involving agencies in Maine, Mississippi, Louisiana, and federal agencies to include the United States Marshals’ Service.
