UofSC Board of Trustees committees hold June meetings – UofSC News & Events

Four of the University of South Carolina Board of Trustees’ committees met on Friday
(June 10). The committees — Finance and Infrastructure; Health and Medical Affairs;
Advancement, Engagement and Communications; and Academic Excellence and Student Experience
— approved actions that will be brought to the Board of Trustees’ meeting on June
24 for full Board approval.

Here’s a round-up of the actions taken:

  • The fiscal year 2023 Designated Funds Budget was approved.
  • Alumni Association Board of Trustee Representative Robin Roberts was approved as a
    non-board, non-voting expert advisor to the Advancement, Engagement and Communications
    Committee.
  • Funds were approved for capital renovations to Harper College and DeSaussure College.
  • Three 50-year easements on portions of university property were approved.
  • The 2022 Comprehensive Permanent Improvement Plan was approved.
  • For the Columbia campus — 39 tenure and promotion recommendations were approved for
    the 2021 Fall cycle and 17 honorary academic titles were approved.
  • Ten programs on the Columbia campus were slated for termination.
  • Two new academic departments were approved for the Columbia campus, with the African
    American Studies and Women’s and Gender Studies programs approved to become departments.
  • Minor faculty manual changes were approved for USC Upstate, Palmetto College and USC
    Columbia.
  • For USC Aiken — five tenure and promotion recommendations were approved for the 2021-22
    cycle and two honorary academic titles were approved.
  • Two new academic programs were approved for USC Aiken.
  • For USC Beaufort — nine tenure and promotion recommendations were approved for the
    2021-22 cycle.
  • For USC Upstate — 16 tenure and promotion recommendations were approved for the 2021-22
    cycle.
  • For Palmetto College — six tenure and promotion recommendations were approved for
    the 2021 Fall cycle.
