LEVITTOWN, PA — The African American Museum of Bucks County and St. Mary’s Medical Center are teaming up for a Women’s Health Forum on Saturday.
The health forum takes place from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at the First Baptist Church in Langhorne with guest speakers Dr. Deon Vigilance and Dr. Colleen Silk.
The forum —co-sponsored by AAMBC and St. Mary’s Medical Center —features iHeart radio personality Patty Jackson as the MC.
There will be a panel of physicians from St. Mary’s Hospital discussing areas of particular importance to women such as primary medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, and caring for the elderly.

AAMBC will also present a historical account of Henrietta Lack, an African American woman who is known for donating her unique cells.
Lacks’ cells doubled every 20 to 24 hours. Today, the cells — nicknamed “HeLa” cells (from the first two letters of her first and last names) — are used to study the effects of toxins, drugs, hormones, and viruses on the growth of cancer cells without experimenting on humans.
Guests are invited to a complimentary healthy lunch following the presentation.
The African American Museum of Bucks County will be moving into a permanent home sometime in the near future.
Renovations for the museum’s permanent home at the Boone Farm in Middletown Township have started. They are expected to last a year.
The project to renovate the existing farmhouse —located at the southwest corner of Core Creek Park at 867 Newtown-Langhorne Road —has progressed after county commissioners approved a $2.39 million contract with L.J. Paolella Construction, Inc., for restoration work and a separate $201,000 contract with Hirschberg Mechanical to perform plumbing and fire protection work at the site.
Funding for the project has also come from Bucks County in addition to substantial contributions from Parx Casino and Sesame Place.
